News That Changed The Course
Hello Beautiful Souls!
Have you recently received shocking or devastating news and now you are not sure what to do or where to go? I have been there, my friend, and I want you to know that you are not alone in this.
When I say that I have been there, I mean to say that I have been on the loved one’s side of receiving news for my very close friend. What started out unnavigable and worrisome turned into me joining my friend on her journey and brought me into my own path of enlightenment. And that is what I want to share with you today.
A few years ago, my friend and I were just living our lives; run here for this errand, do this chore, be everything to everyone in our circle of family, friends, and work-or in our case, work, family, and friends- and if there is free time, make more plans all the while craving more time for ourselves. That was until the phone call came in that changed everything and put perspective back into our lives. That one phone call altered my friend’s life and my own life forever.
She called me in the evening as I was returning home from an errand to let me know what the doctors found during a routine scan. I live in the middle of nowhere in eastern North Carolina and I remember pulling over in a church parking lot so that we could continue the conversation without the call being lost to a dead zone and that moment when she needed support going unsupported.
I could feel her nerves in the call while she explained everything going on. I tried to be positive for her and tried to ease her nerves with a joke or joshing. She stopped me right there to tell me that this was serious. I let her know that I understood it was serious- but that I knew she was going to be okay. Normally my nerves go off the wall if something unpleasant is happening, but at that moment, I knew everything was going to be just fine. Was there new territory to navigate? Yes. But something in me knew this was not the end and that she needed to know that, too.
A little summary of my friend: she is brave, strong, courageous, and very tenacious. Because of who she is and what she wants to live for, she made the decision that she would change her unhealthy habits, slow down, and listen to her body. Spoiler: She did and continues to do so! It is because of her and her allowing me in her life and on her journey that opened up much of my own world, knowledge, and opportunities.
What have I learned through her personal healing journey that she allowed me to participate in and share with you today?
1. I learned that what you feed your mind feeds EVERYTHING else. Your mind is very, very powerful- more powerful than most folks know. If you get a diagnosis, you cannot think negatively and you cannot accept it as your fate. You must own the positive life and future you want as if your life depends on it- because it does!
2. I learned that there are many modalities out there that can all benefit in your own journey. And it’s okay if you do not mesh with every single modality out there. You just have to find the kind that stands true to you and your beliefs.
3. I am still learning that you must start being authentic to who you are. Stop being everything to everyone and everything, and instead, be that for yourself. Stop living in fear of rejection and shine as only you can shine, be who only you can be. Because there is only one of you- and you are amazing!
4. Always get a 2nd opinion. If this blog/ article caught your eye, it’s because it involves your health-or someone else’s that you are concerned about. Life is very beautiful and precious, and it never hurts to get a few extra opinions if you, or the person(s) you care about, are in a similar season or journey.
With that said, follow me for more as I go through the different healing modalities that I have experienced while I journeyed through this season with my friend. I am going to share the wisdom I have obtained, the places I have gone, and the experiences I have acquired.
My hope is that this information can go out and help as many people as possible while they embark on a similar path and can open many new opportunities that they may not know about.
Journey Beautifully, My Friends
